| Today for Old Testament class, I read a chapter from the book by R.C. Sproul called The Holiness of God. It was about the justice and mercy of God. It definitely made me think. God could wipe out the whole world today and be perfectly just in doing so. We as humans have rebelled against a holy and sovereign God. Each sin, no matter how seemingly small, is a blatant act of defiance against him. Yet he causes to earth to continue spinning and gives us each new day in an act of total and complete, undeserved grace. What is more, the Father sent his Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly took upon himself the sins of the world. Can you imagine? The One perfect man who ever lived received the wrath of the Father--wrath that we deserve. What an unfathomable act of grace. I think we take this forgranted often... we forget how amazing grace truly is. Why would God redeem me? Why? I am filled with a renewed sense of awe of who God is. | | |
